The Serious Consequences of Losing the Florida Turtle Population

One of the most important animal populations in Florida is the sea turtle population. The sea turtles are endangered and their population is declining. The main reason for this decline is the loss of their natural habitat to development and coastal construction. These turtles need to come up on land to lay eggs and this makes them more vulnerable to predators, pollution, and other natural disasters.

Sea turtles are an important part of Florida’s ecosystem because they help maintain the balance between predator and prey populations. They also help maintain a healthy coral reef system by eating sponges that would otherwise overgrow it.
